Woman Killed By Garbage Truck In Sydney’s Northern Beaches

She was reportedly pushing a pram at the time

A woman has died in Sydney’s Northern Beaches on Thursday morning after being hit by a garbage truck.

The woman, believed to be in her 30s, was walking with her young child in a pram at around 11.45am when the accident occurred, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.

The woman was found unconscious underneath the vehicle and died at the scene despite efforts from emergency services. The baby in the pram, believed to be about two years old, escaped uninjured.

“One of the police went straight to the woman while she was unconscious lying on the road and the other officer went over to the pram to check on the baby,” Witness Aaron Sault told The Manly Daily.

“The officer looked in the pram and the baby seemed to be OK.

“He started to push the pram backwards and forwards to calm the baby.

“The woman wasn’t moving.”

Police have established a crime scene at the area and the garbage truck driver is assisting with enquiries.
