A 23-year-old New York woman who became an internet sensation as one half of the “leash couple” has disappeared, The New York Post reports.

Anna Teshu and her then-fiance Nathan Riely became famous in 2015 after posting a series of instagram shots of Anna being led around New York on a chain.

The couple explained the leash was part of a BDSM activity called “puppy play.” Teshu referred to herself as “Xenu, Nathan’s puppy” and would walk around shopping centres and other public places on all hours, even stopping to drink in water fountains like a dog.’

At the time, The Daily Mail reports, the couple said they found Teshu’s chain leash and spiked collar more romantic than a wedding ring and said their sex life was ‘normal’.

Ironically, the couple were charged with animal cruelty after their German Shepherd, Scout, was locked in a hot car and died.

Teshu was found to be unable to stand trial because of mental incompetence.

Teshu is now believed to be in a new ‘puppy play’ relationship with a man called Paul Matranga and has posted pics of herself in recent years wearing a leash and muzzle. She regularly posted pictures of herself taking naps in a cage on Facebook.
