If you devoured both seasons of Netflix’s serial killer drama You in one rather well spent weekend, albeit hiding from behind the sofa, then you’ll be pleased to learn that Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) will return to our screens once more.

Confirming widespread whispers, the streaming service announced You will be getting a third season in 2021—yep, that’s our social calendar already on hold.

The announcement was made via the show’s official Twitter account with an eerie clip which spells out: “New year, new you.”

Alongside the frustratingly untelling preview lies the caption, “See you soon, neighbour.”

Its title characters Penn Badgley (Joe Goldberg) and Victoria Pedretti (Love Quinn) will reprise their now-famous roles, while co-creators era Gamble and Greg Berlanti, will also take a seat behind the cameras once more as executive producers.

We have goosebumps already!

Intrigued to learn more? Below, everything we know about You season three.

Season three has finished filming, but production was delayed.

Executive producer Sera Gamble confirmed in April 2021 that filming had officially finished, saying the cast and crew “worked very hard” to make the best show they could while staying safe amid the ongoing pandemic in the U.S., adding it was even during “a significant and scary surge” in L.A.

Gamble ended her thread with just a little teaser about what fans can expect from the upcoming series.

“Also, the episodes are f*cking bonkers and the performances are insanely good,” she wrote. “That’s all I’ll say about that till we are ready to talk about the new season.”

Netflix has confirmed that its stars will return for season three.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the upcoming season will run for 10-episodes, with Penn Badgley and Victoria Pedretti reprising their roles, and we can’t wait to see how they tackle parenthood.

There’s a new person joining Joe’s world.

On January 25, Netflix announced that Scott Michael Foster would be joining season three of Youand if previous seasons are any indication, he better watch his back around Joe (and Love).

Per Deadline, Foster will be playing Ryan, a single dad and local television reporter who has “overcome a history of addiction.”

The publication continues, “Ryan has secrets, including a controlling, calculating demeanour that he reserves for those closest to him and anyone who gets in his way.”

Foster joins several new cast members including, Dylan Arnold, Tati Gabrielle, Adam Speedman, Travis Van Winkle and Shalita Grant.

The series is set to air in 2021.

The release date has yet to be confirmed but it is likely that season three will be released in conjunction with the latest Caroline Kepnes book.

There is potential for a fourth season of You.

Caroline Kepnes has finished her third book in the You series, and has been writing a fourth—which means potential for a fourth season. Of course, the second book and season diverged pretty clearly from one another (Love is not a killer in the books, but she does forgive Joe for his transgressions—not to mention Joe is jail in the books, not roaming around cities wreaking havoc).
