'I was scared of the consequences of what might happen to me or my mum'

A 52-year-old man is facing 21 charges relating to the alleged abuse of six women and a girl between 1988 and 2014.

A Sydney court has heard how the man sexually abused a girl who was aged around 5 or 6, physically assaulting her with an electrical cord as well as forcing her to stab her mother in the head with a fork, reports The Australian

Now 32 years old, the woman gave evidence via video link, telling the court how she feared what would happen if she didn’t obey the man, who was dating her mother at the time.

“He told me it wasn’t hard enough and I needed to hurt her,” she said.

“I was scared of the consequences of what might happen to me or my mum.”

The woman also detailed further abuse, including an incident where he forced her to touch a coat hanger he’d inserted into a powerpoint, as well as incidents of sexual abuse.

“I said it would hurt and what if mum found out,” she told the court as she broke down, and was forced to take a break from giving evidence.

“He said, ‘I won’t tell her if you don’t’.”

The man, who has not been named, is accused of 21 charges relating to the abuse of women, he has pleaded not guilty to 10 charges of sexual intercourse without consent, three charges of indecent assault and eight charges of detain for advantage reports AAP.

The trial is ongoing.
