Australian reality television show Yummy Mummies follows the lives of four rich mums-to-be, Lorinska Merrington, Rachel Watts, Jane Scandizzo and Maria DiGeronimo.
The trailer depicts the lifestyles of the expectant mums—think Real Housewives with baby bumps.
The 90-second clip is a masterclass in extravagance, with one mum showing off matching outfits of varying sizes (one for mum, dad, baby and dog), while others head to a baby shower in a horse and carriage.
The clip that was posted on Channel 7 Perth's Facebook page has garnered over 8700 comments.
"Sydney Housewives eat ur heart out," one Facebook user wrote. "I want to be pregnant again just to sit and watch this whilst holding my belly!!!" another woman said.
"I'd love to see how these well kept socialites cope with having a newborn and sleepless nights, feeding issues and everything else that doesn't go to plan when a baby arrives," added another.
On Twitter, one woman argued the show "is not a true reflection of the majority of pregnant women", while another said: "I really can't understand how reality TV has gone so far! & what are we teaching young girls".
Yummy Mummies executive producer Lyndal Marks told The Daily Telegraph the series would offer an insight into the “different lives” some women live.
“It’s like watching an episode of Lifestyles Of The Rich And Famous, which was enjoyed by millions and didn’t upset anyone with ‘unrealistic expectations’,” she said.
“I am sure that women know there are many women who have different lives, who live by different standards. That doesn’t make it right or wrong, it makes it different.”
