President Trump has again been accused of misusing his position to protect his family’s business interests, this time in regards to US department store Nordstrom dropping his daughter Ivanka’s fashion brand.
Trump took to Twitter to complain that “Ivanka has been treated so unfairly,” first from his personal account and later via his official White House account @POTUS.
The post was retweeted over 6000 times in under an hour, with Democrats labeling use of the White House account as “totally inappropriate,” the ABC reports.
Meanwhile, the New York Times reports that Trump supporters are calling for a boycott of Nordstrom stores.
Nordstrom has released a statement outlining that declining sales motivated their decision. “Over the past year, and particularly in the last half of 2016, sales of the brand have steadily declined to the point where it didn’t make good business sense for us to continue with the line for now,” it reads.
The President’s involvement has raised ethical concerns over his continued involvement with his various family businesses.
