Actor Jon Bernthal has hit out at his Baby Driver co-star, Kevin Spacey, labelling him a “bully.”

In the film, Bernthal played Griff, a criminal who was in a gang run by Spacey’s crime boss character, Doc.

In an interview with SiriusXM, Bernthal opened up about his time on set with the now disgraced actor, “I just remember losing a ton of respect for him. I remember being on that set and I remember him really rubbing me the wrong way. And it’s funny, anybody who I was working with at the time, and people in my life remember me saying it and a lot of people reached out to me when that happened.”

He didn’t stop there. “The kind of man [Spacey] was when I saw him, working with, made me lose all respect for him and I was enormously disappointed. Going on to that set and working with him, I wasn’t there much and I wasn’t really in a situation to judge, but when I was there, he really rubbed me the wrong way. I thought he was a bit of a bully… I didn’t really care for the way he was behaving toward some of the other people on set,” Bernthal said. “I remember thinking, man, if that was a woman that he was talking to, I would have done something, I would have said something. And I was really happy to sort of get out of there.”

The experience completely changed the way Bernthal saw Spacey, who had been his favourite actor. Not any more.

Since actor Anthony Rapp spoke out and alleged that Spacey made sexual advances towards him when he was 14, a number of other actors have come forward.

This week, former news presenter, Heather Unruh, told a press conference in Boston that her 18-year-old son had been sexually assaulted by Spacey in a bar. “[He] stuck his hand inside my son’s pants and grabbed his genitals,” she said.

In response to sexual harassment accusations from cast and crew members on House of Cards, Netflix shut down filming and later fired Spacey from the hit show.

Spacey has not responded to any allegations since October 30, when he apologised for his behaviour towards Rapp, but said “I honestly do not remember the encounter.”
