Adut Akech has joined the world renowned beauty brand Estée Lauder as their latest Global Beauty Ambassador.
The spokesperson and model sat down with marie claire Beauty Director Sally Hunwick to share how she keeps her skin pristine and the beauty lessons her mum taught her.
marie claire Australia: What Estée Lauder products do you use in your daily routine?
Adut Akech: Since partnering with Estée Lauder, I have added more Estée Lauder products to my skincare routine.
In the morning, I use a cleanser, a toner and my Estée Lauder DayWear Sorbet Creme, which has SPF in it. I also use a lip balm or the Estée Lauder lip oil.
It’s the same at night but I change my cream. I use the Supreme+ Creme before bed.

marie claire Australia: What is your favourite go-to makeup products that you use daily?
AA: I don’t wear makeup when I’m not working. I like to give my skin a break because it goes through so much. If I were to go out, I’d probably do an eyebrow, a gloss lip, and if I felt like I needed a little coverage, I’d put a little bit of foundation with my moisturiser.
marie claire Australia: Is there any bad beauty habits you’re trying to kick?
AA: I’ve gotten better with looking after my skin. I used to pop my pimples and I wish I didn’t do that, because now I have to deal with the consequences of scarring. I’m trying to use products to help fade my scars.

marie claire Australia: Who is your biggest beauty icon? Or someone who you look-up to in terms of beauty?
AA: I look up to my mum and sister. My mum always told me less is more. Growing up, she didn’t want my sister and I to use too many makeup products; she’d tell us we didn’t need it. My sister is a makeup girl [now], while my mum’s into skincare. They both love getting glammed up and I love that.

marie claire Australia: Do you have any particular beauty rituals?
AA: I’m a fan of beauty rituals. Candles, baths, masks, spas—I like all of that. I have an amazing massage lady who comes to my house, and I like hotel spas. When I’m abroad… in New York, I visit the hotel spas for a facial massage and a body massage.
marie claire Australia: What does beauty mean to you?
AA: Beauty to me is not something that is on the outside, it’s within. Beauty is how you are as a person, it’s your personality and how you treat people. Somebody who has an amazing personality and treats someone kindly and is a good person, that’s beautiful.
