As it turns out, the penis we all saw in that bathroom scene with Charlotte is a prosthetic. The producers decided to use it because they wanted to make a subtle reference back to Charlotte and Harry's early days of courting in Sex And The City. When she begins sleeping with Harry, Charlotte is vocal about how much she enjoys the sex—now, it seems we know one reason why.
In a new interview, showrunner Michael Patrick King explained their thought process behind the prosthetic: "I decided, many people agreed with me, that [Harry] would have a substantial penis. Because one of the things that Charlotte says about Harry in Sex And The City is [their] great sex life: that she's repulsed by it, but she wants him," he explained, per Grazia.
Of course, it pays to note that scale isn't everything when it comes to sex, with King adding: "Not that your sex life is dependent on your penis size. But when you're going to show his penis, let's let's make it be something that's a nice size."
There's no doubt the producers did their job right—and the surprise factor didn't end there when a later scene saw Carrie Bradshaw bump into her neighbour's boyfriend, who accidentally revealed his full peen to the 55-year-old while she was passing by.
Clearly moved by the two scenes, fans took to Twitter to share their shock.
"Everyone’s like, 'Euphoria penis this Euphoria penis that'—And Just Like That showed TWO cocks this week. TWO. One belonging to a 60 year old man and it was huge," one fan wrote in reference to HBO's other hit show.
"They showed HARRY'S penis in And Just Like That. Dicks are really having a moment on TV. HBO in particular is committed to the representation of dicks," another added.
Clearly, these fans were just as enlightened as everyone else. Who knows what episode nine holds...
