This Model Was Fired For Getting Her Period During A Photoshoot

Seriously?
Rachel Rickert

Everyday, women all over the world get up and go to work. On some of those days, the very same women will have their period. Its normal.

But for 27-year-old model Rachel Rickert, getting her period at work one day meant getting fired.

Rickert, who had been working as a model for Hyundai at an International auto show in New York, has revealed that she was told to “go home” after she rushed to the bathroom to change a leaking tampon.

The blonde-beauty had been working for over three hours before she was allowed to take a bathroom break.

After leaving the job, Rickert was called by her talent agency who told her they were letting her go.

She says her talent rep, Erika Seifred, “called me and pretty much told me that Hyundai didn’t want me representing them anymore at the show because they got word of my menstrual cycle.”

“Im not going to let someone tell me I cant have my period when I work. Its unacceptable,” Rickert told  The New York Post.

The 27-year-old model has filed a complaint against her former employer, claiming that she felt “shamed” by the company.

A representative for Hyundai has responded by saying, “We take any complaint like this seriously and will respond appropriately once we have a chance to investigate the merits of the claim.”
