I Tried The Face Mask Kate Hudson, Nicole Kidman and Emma Roberts Swear By

It was… unusual.

As someone who stares at photos of celebrities on the daily (for the record, it’s part of my job), I am forever comparing my skin to theirs. Suffice to say, they usually come out on top.

So when the opportunity presented itself to try the new face mask everyone from Nicole Kidman to Kate Hudson is wearing, of course I jumped.

Face mask, face schmask, I hear you say – been there, done that. But this one is different. First of all, it’s made by Charlotte Tilbury – aka the celebrity make-up artist whose clients include everyone aforementioned, along with Sienna Miller, Kate Moss, Victoria Beckham and Miranda Kerr.

Secondly – it’s completely dry. Yes, the name is a giveaway – it’s called the Charlotte Tilbury Instant Magic Facial Dry Sheet Mask, after all – but I was still surprised when I pulled it out of its packaging.

The idea is that unlike your usual skin mask, which tends to be made up of mainly water or glycerin, this one delivers a pure shot of active ingredients direct to your skin.

The thing is… you feel like you’re just putting paper on your face.

How do I look?

The paper is stretchy enough to pull over your ears so it stays put while you madly get ready for the day – a big plus in my books, as I rarely have the patience (or the time) to sit still for 15 minutes waiting for a mask to take effect. It’s somehow (magically?) enriched with Vitamin B3, plant stem cells, peptides and natural oils that work together to brighten, lift and plump up your complexion, with effects that are meant to last up to eight hours.

I wacked this on before a three-hour drive to the Hunter Valley for a wedding – and despite more champagnes than I feel obliged to reveal here, my skin still looked supremely hydrated by the end of the night (sadly, the same cannot be said for my liver. Given that Mossy is a client, you would think Charlotte would have something to help with that too).

Immediately after I removed the mask, I was surprised by how dewy and nourished my skin felt – and my make-up virtually glided on. Charlotte has taken to using this on clients before red carpet events, as it’s designed to be used pre-make-up application, rather than on a Sunday night.

Keen to try it for yourself? The Charlotte Tilbury Instant Magic Facial Dry Sheet Mask retails for $35 a pop (or $126/four) and is available here.
