3 Party Makeup Looks That Will Get You Noticed

From metallics and peaches to classic glamour, we’ve curated this holiday season’s best makeup looks to try.

You’ve got gifts to shop for, decorations to hang (read: artfully style) and a mountain of work to wrap up. And why does it suddenly seem mandatory to catch up with your entire friendship group before the new year?

Here’s one thing you don’t need to worry about right now: doing your makeup for said catch-ups, cocktails and holiday parties. Think of Napoleon Perdis makeup artists as your own personal glam squad – they have a full menu of makeup services and will even come to your home, office or hotel room if you prefer. All you need to do is choose a look or colour and they’ll take care of the rest. And if even that seems like too much to consider at this time of year, we’ve got you covered with all the party-season inspo’ you need, with expert input from Napoleon Perdis Global Makeup Artist Nathan Kaké.

“We love bold red lipstick for the party season – it’s effortlessly chic and the quickest way to make a statement and stand out from the crowd,” Kaké enthuses.

He likes to team it with a wash of copper or bronze shadow across the lids and a full set of lashes to open up the eyes. The complexion is kept fresh and softly contoured. “This beautifully balances the look,” he says.

Having this classic look executed by a pro also helps take the guesswork out of finding your perfect shade of red lipstick. Plus, you can take your perfect shade with you for touch-ups later (the cost of the makeup application is redeemable on products you purchase).

“We incorporate makeup education into our service so that when you take your products home, you feel confident in using them and know how to get that same professional grade finish for yourself,” Kaké notes.

Ready to pull out all the stops? This season’s holiday glam is all about colour, Kaké says.

Beauty enthusiasts aren’t just looking at black winged eyeliner – we’re seeing them really experimenting with colour as a form of self-expression.”

He points to the Festive Fantasy Eyeshadow Palette from the Opulent Desires Holiday Collection as his go-to product for high-impact eye looks. The eight pigment-rich shades include a combination of matte and glitter formulas in head-turning magenta, terracotta and rose-gold.

“The thing to remember if you are a little colour-shy is that product innovation and textures within the eyeshadow category have come such a long way – don’t be afraid to just get it on there,” Kaké explains. “The most important tip is to blend any harsh edges with a fluffy eyeshadow brush so that the colour looks effortless and seamless.”

PSA: holiday makeup doesn’t have to be bright and colourful. Sometimes you just want to look radiant, on-trend and like you haven’t been panic-online-gift-shopping until 2am. The 90s lip look – a combination of nude matte lipstick and liner that’s 1–2 shades darker – is the answer to all your prayers.

“I love this vibe, it’s a great way to instantly make your lips look fuller and fabulous,” says Kaké. “But it still uses those nude neutral tones and is easily paired with a fresh base and a wash of a peach or caramel tone over the eye. Add a lick of mascara and you’re good to go!”
