Camila Morrone Defends Her Age Gap With Leonardo DiCaprio

The actress says it can be "frustrating" at times

Camila Morrone and Leonardo DiCaprio have been dating for over two years now – decades by Leo’s standards – but despite how serious the pair seem to be about each other, the public conversation still centres around their 23-year age gap.

Addressing the public’s interest in her relationship, Camila, who is making waves in Hollywood after her breakout performance in new film Mickey and the Bear, said she understands why people are curious, but that it can also be frustrating at times.

“There’s so many relationships in Hollywood — and in the history of the world — where people have large age gaps,” Morrone told the Los Angeles Times.

“I just think anyone should be able to date who they want to date,” she added.

Though the 22-year-old did note, “I probably would be curious about it, too,” she said she hopes that her relationship will eventually be less of a conversation and that people will come to be more interested in her work than who she’s dating.

“I think more and more now that people are seeing the film, I’m slowly getting an identity outside of that,” she said. “Which is frustrating, because I feel like there should always be an identity besides who you’re dating.”

She added, “I understand the association, but I’m confident that will continue to slip away and be less of a conversation.”
