Peek Behind The Cartier Curtain At Its ‘Culture Of Design’ Pop-Up

Cartier designs are timeless, but this pop-up won't last forever.

For lovers of Cartier, their obsession usually starts with an elegant watch or exquisite piece of jewellery. For Cartier itself, it all starts with design. Now, devotees of the Maison can go peek behind the Cartier curtain at its Sydney pop-up, The Culture of Design, discovering the secrets and journeys of some of its most iconic collections.

Located at the former Cartier boutique on Castlereagh Street, The Culture of Design sees the space reimagined with a modern gallery aesthetic, encased with curved walls in gleaming whites to allow the collections to take centre stage.

Inside, Cartier presents an exhibit of its most celebrated collections of jewellery and watchmaking. Visitors can witness the journey of the timeless Trinity collection (first created in 1923), take in the vision of Cartier’s Love collection (first created in 1969), or even get up close and personal to an iconic Panthère watch, a timeless piece worn by everyone from Jane Fonda in the 1980s to Sarah Snook’s Shiv Roy in Succession.

Each Cartier collection  which also includes Tank, Juste un Clou, Santos de Cartier and Ballon Bleu  are based on four main principals of creation: the purity of line, the accuray of the shape, the precision of proportions, and the precise details. It’s this story Cartier fans can learn about in new details at the pop-up.

“Cartier is a pioneering house, in constant creative exploration. The Culture of Design demonstrates the Maison’s ability to create designs that stand the test of time, objects that are at once immediately recognisable and bear witness to the past,” said Alban du Mesnil, Cartier Oceania Managing Director. “With this new pop up, we celebrate a unique collection of creations that have earned a place in the history of jewellery and watchmaking, and in the hearts of our clients.”

The Culture of Design pop up will be open until June 2023, at 74 Castlereagh St, Sydney — this is one you won’t want to miss.
