Netflix’s ‘Dead To Me’ Is Returning For A Third And Final Season

Sobs

It’s official: Netflix’s dark comedy Dead To Me is returning for a third season – but creator Liz Feldman has confirmed it will be its last. The streaming service announced this week that Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini’s hugely popular series will be renewed, and in the twist and turns we’ve come to expect from the duo, we will have to say goodbye to Jen and Judy for good.

“We could not be more excited to expand our relationship with Liz and continue to work with her on Dead to Me and future series to come,” Jane Wiseman, Netflix’s vice president of comedy series, said in a statement.

Feldman released her own statement, writing: “Dead to Me is exactly the show I wanted to make,” adding, “it’s been an incredible gift.”

She goes on to say that “telling a story sprung from grief and loss has stretched me as an artist and healed me as a human. I’ll be forever indebted to my partners in crime, my friends for life, Christina and Linda, and our brilliantly talented writers, cast, and crew. I am beyond grateful to Netflix for supporting Dead to Me from day one, and I’m thrilled to continue our collaboration.”

Applegate also tweeted: “I will miss these ladies. But we felt this was the best way to tie up the story of these women. Thank you to all the fans. We will be getting back to work when it is safe to do so. Much love.”

To recap, season one follows Jen (Applegate) as she grieves the loss of her husband. While attending a grief support group, she meets Judy (Cardellini), and the two women quickly bond.

Season two picks up right after the events of the season one finale and the two ladies try to keep their secrets buried. But there’s a surprising new visitor in town, Detective Perez (Diana Maria Riva), who is hot on their heels. Jen and Judy take drastic measures to protect their loved ones and each other…no matter the cost.

No premiere date for season three has been announced, so stay tuned.
