What is the plot of Don't Look Up?
The Netflix film will follow two rookie astronomers (played by Lawrence and DiCaprio) who go on a tour around the world to warn everyone of a comet, which is headed straight for Earth and will destroy it in the process.
While its premise is seeped in dark comedy flavour, writer and director Adam McKay has hinted the film will visit some deeper themes that'll make us think twice about the way we live.
"What [the COVID-19 pandemic] did was bring out what the movie is really about, which is how we communicate with each other," he explained, per Collider.
"We can’t even talk to each other anymore. We can’t even agree. So it’s about climate change, but at its root it’s about what has the internet, what have cellphones, what has the modern world done to the way we communicate."
Who is in the cast of Don't Look up?
While Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio tackle the lead roles, the film has lined up a slew of Hollywood A-listers including Jonah Hill, Timothée Chalamet, Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Chris Evans, Melanie Lynskey and even famed singer Ariana Grande.
Of course, the list of names will largely be guest appearances, but there's no denying creator McKay has garnered some serious star power for the project.
When will Don't Look Up be released?
The film is set to hit theatres first on December 10, 2021. While it's a Netflix-owned production, the streaming platform sometimes upgrades its bigger projects for a short run at the cinemas.
That said, it won't be long until Don't Look Up is released on Netflix, with a release date set for December 24.
