Practically perfect in every way, Australian supermodel and super-mum Elle Macpherson is no stranger to the jet-setting, fast-paced life that comes with being one of the most stylish women in the world.
Her enviable career spans decades and encompasses many facets, including her mainstay role on the runways in the 1990s and more recently, as the founder of the industry revered holistic wellness brand, WelleCo.
However, at 57-years-old, Elle shows no sign of slowing down, with the mother-of-two picking up new hobbies and is now in the process of writing a book.
How do we know all this? marie claire Australia was given the exclusive opportunity to get a glimpse into the treasures Elle carries in her Mary Poppins-esque Lady Dior, because there’s no better way to get to know someone than through the contents of their handbag.

As part of Dior’s ongoing short video series In My Lady, Elle sat down with the iconic maison to talk us through the most revered items in her purse.
“My bag is everything! It carries my life in it,” the multi-hyphenated star says. “I mean it keeps everything that is so dear to me, it’s just perfect!”
“I think as a mother you grow by having a bag like Mary Poppins—you’re just pulling things out constantly from inside it.”
The first thing Elle pulls out? Her phone of course. Doubling as a wallet, her brown leather phone case includes her American drivers license and credit card. Elle revealed her phone quirk is to never put the phone up to her ear, rather always talking on speaker phone.
From there, the contents get progressively quirkier. The next item? A stress relief squish toy in the shape of a bear. “My youngest son just left for collage in Boston and it’s a stress reliever,” Elle explained the sentimental meaning behind the item.
“Ok let’s talk about the boys,” Elle said before pulling out a tan photograph holder. The model shows us various images of her sons before surprising us by showing us Flynn’s, her oldest childs, eclectic hobby.
Pulling out a variety of feathers, Elle explains that Flynn has collected them ever since he was a child. “He would give them to me and say ‘Mummy these are angels and they’re thinking of you, make a wish’.”
Inside Elle’s Lady Dior is another uber-stylish accessory, the caro coin purse. “In here I have good luck charms, my 18 years sober AA chip and guitar picks.”
The model revealed she’s just started learning guitar, and counts that as her elixir of youth. “I’m nearly 60, to pick up a new hobby is the secret to keeping young.”
Just when you thought that’s all Lady Dior could carry, Elle then proudly shows us her collection of affirmation cards, the book she’s currently reading and a personalised stationery kit, complete with thank you cards, wax and a gold seal complete with her initials.
“Can you believe it, I actually have more in here!” Elle exclaimed with surprise.
The final item is Elle’s journal. “I’m in the process of writing my book” the supermodel said, “it’s all about trust and how to use your heart as a compass.”
