Nicole Kidman A Favourite In 2017 Emmys Race

Big Little Lies has 16 nominations!

When the Emmy contenders were announced, it was not a question of if Big Little Lies would be nominated, but how many nominations it would score.

The answer? A sweet sixteen.

Beloved Aussie actress Nicole Kidman picked up a nomination for Best Actress, Limited Series or TV Movie, for her role in the critically-acclaimed HBO drama.

As Variety notes, she’s nominated alongside co-star Reese Witherspoon, and a talented pool of others from Feud: Bette and Joan, Fargo and American Crime.

Laura Dern, Shailene Woodley and Alexander Skarsgard were also nominated in other categories for their work on the show.

Australians were in high demand, with Judy Davis, Geoffrey Rush and Ben Mendelsohn all nabbing nominations.

Another announcement we’re stoked about: Elisabeth Moss received a nom for her brilliant work in The Handmaid’s Tale, but has fierce competition in Claire Foy (The Crown), Viola Davis (How to Get Away with Murder), Keri Russell (The Americans), Evan Rachel Wood (Westworld) and Robin Wright (House of Cards).

Westworld and SNL had the most heat with 22 Emmy’s nods.

With every list of Emmy’s nominations comes a list of snubs. Unbelievably, Lena Dunham’s final season of Girls was overlooked, with no nods for the main cast, writing, direction or show itself besides its guest stars. In our humble opinion, the groundbreaking show had a stellar final season.
