At Christian Louboutin’s spring/summer 2027 show, the fairytale heroine had other plans. There would be no waiting for a prince, no rescue required. With the legendary Dita Von Teese taking centre stage, this was a story about a woman writing her own ending.

Held at Paris’s Théâtre du Châtelet on October 2, the house’s Eternal Youth presentation brought a theatrical flourish to the fashion week calendar. Cynthia Erivo, Elizabeth Debicki, Milly Alcock, Jihyo and Jaden Smith were among the guests gathered for a show exploring glamour and female empowerment.

For Louboutin, the starting point was the word “glamour” itself. Before it became shorthand for beauty and celebrity, it referred to a spell: an enchantment capable of changing how someone sees the world. It is an idea particularly suited to a designer whose shoes have long promised a little everyday transformation.

That sense of magic shaped the show’s narrative. Eternal Youth opened in a world that had seemingly lost its capacity for wonder, where the anticipated return of a mysterious woman offered the possibility of rediscovering it.

Enter Von Teese. With her raven hair, pale complexion and red lips, the burlesque star evoked Snow White, although this version of the character had little interest in following the original script.

The footwear carried that theatrical spirit through in miniature. Scarlet ballet-inspired shoes combined sparkling embellishment, long satin ribbons and exuberant frills at the heel. Elsewhere, pointed black pumps sprouted sculptural gold wings, their feather-like forms sweeping upwards from the back of the shoe. These were designs with enough personality to suggest fairytale characters of their own.

Other styles brought a darker glamour: glittering black stilettos framed the foot with intricate gold cage-like detailing, while glossy pumps were edged with delicate dangling beads. Slender heels and sharply pointed toes gave the extravagance a precise silhouette, balancing fantasy with Louboutin’s familiar sensuality.

Von Teese was an inspired choice to inhabit this world. Her carefully cultivated aesthetic and command of theatrical glamour made her a natural fit for a presentation built around the power of creating your own image.

With Eternal Youth, Louboutin gave dressing up the full theatrical treatment – right down to the shoes. And who better to cast that spell than Dita Von Teese?
