There is something quite humbling about a strapless bra. It can dig into your skin in all the wrong places, slip down and give you the dreaded double-boob look, or just outright leave you in pain all day. Honestly? Not ideal.

Firstly, we must address the elephant in the room: sizing. Strapless bras often come with a bit of a learning curve and can fit very differently to your typical bra.
First Thing founder Georgia Gazal explains the sizing as so: “The band should feel firm and secure as that’s what does the heavy lifting.” Once you’ve nailed the band, she says, “Your breast tissue should sit fully inside the cups and within the wire, without spilling or being compressed.”
Chloe de Winter, co-founder of Nala agrees. “It’s not going to give you the same support as a bra with straps, but good ones come close. You should feel like your strapless bra holds you in and holds the breasts up. Make sure it always sits flush to the skin, with no gaping.”
