Bringing together the biggest names in fashion and Hollywood, the Met Gala is arguably the most pivotal event in our calendars each year. The Christmas of red carpets if you will, the 2025 Met Gala is almost here and we’re absolutely giddy with anticipation.
As the event draws closer, you may be asking who will be attending, who are this year’s co-chairs (and what’s a co-chair do, anyways?) as well as the all-important theme and dress code (not to be mistaken with one another, we’ll explain below).

What Is The Met Gala Theme For This Year?
Often, the Met Gala theme is dedicated to a particular designer, like 2023’s theme, ‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty‘ and will always relate to the current exhibition of the Costume Institute at the Met. The theme for the 2025 Met Gala is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” and is described as an expression of Black dandyism.
Based on The Costume Institute’s Spring 2025 Exhibition, both the theme and the collection is inspired by the work of Monica L.Miller’s 2009 book, Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity and will “examine the historical and cultural emergence of the Black Dandy, tracing the figure from 18th-century depictions to modern-day representations.”

The Met Gala dress code provides attendees with further guideance and a more visual representation of how their outfit should translate the event theme.
In 2025, the Met Gala dress code is ‘Tailored For You’ leans into the theme of “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” as a nod to the museum exhibition’s focus on menswear and suiting.
When Is The 2025 Met Gala?
The 2025 Met Gala will take place on May 5th, at the New York Metropolitan Museum Of Art, which correlates to roughly 8am on May 6th in Australia (EAST). So, mark your calendars and cue the countdown.
Who Is Hosting The Met Gala This Year?
As always, Anna Wintour will co-chair 2025 Met Gala, this year joined by Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams and honorary chair, LeBron James.
But the formal responsibilities don’t end there. There is also a host committee which this year includes André 3000, Kara Walker, Jeremy O. Harris, Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, Rashid Johnson, Audra McDonald, Janelle Monáe, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Jordan Casteel, Dapper Dan, Doechii, Ayo Edebiri, Edward Enninful, Spike Lee and Tonya Lewis Lee, Jeremy Pope, Angel Reese, Sha’Carri Richardson, Tyla and Usher. All but guaranteeing the aforementioned will be on the guestlist for the evening.
Who Is Attending The 2025 Met Gala?
Outside of the co-chairs and host committee, a few celebs have been confirmed to attend at this year’s event. Zendaya’s creative partner and fashion icon Law Roach confirmed back in April both of them would be attending the event. Some of this year’s biggest actresses are also expected, with Sydney Sweeney, Elle Fanning and Ariana Grande confirmed.
