Run, Rabbit, Run: Ferragamo Is Chasing Peace & Prosperity This Lunar New Year

The eye is in the beholder.

Ferragamo’s newly appointed creative director, Maximilian Davis, doesn’t need luck to make 2023 his year.

His lauded Milan Fashion Week debut proved how well his signature sex appeal and innovative sensuality lends itself to the heritage Italian label.

But it doesn’t hurt to have a little assistance to ensure this Lunar New Year will be more prosperous and peaceful than the last.

For the Year of the Rabbit—regarded as the luckiest Zodiac sign in Chinese astrology—Davis is spinning his own fortune by keeping one eye on the maison’s lauded roots and one eye on the future.

The eye in question? The ruby red eye of the auspicious rabbit.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Maximilian Davis special without the bourgeoning style savant putting a new spin on a tradition.

In this case, the feature of a peach branch within the rabbit’s pupil adds an element of humour, poetry and (most importantly) beauty.

It’s easy to get lost in the eye of the Ferragamo rabbit, and in the collection just the same.

The collection—which flanks contemporary silhouettes with crimson hues—is saturated with cotton jersey shirts, versatile silk foulards and striking cherry blossom shirts.

A new year is also ushering in a new iteration of a tried favourite, specifically the enchanting Trifolio  top handle box bag and the classic staple, the Studio bag.

With red an important colour in Chinese culture, it’s only fitting that Ferragamo would celebrate the upcoming new year by drenching in the new collection in the brand’s signature hue.

Ferragamo and red are inextricably linked, and for this year they’ve opted for their brand new crimson colour way. A perfect edition for your exhaustive collection of Ferragamo treasures.

Considering Lunar New Year is soon upon us, there’s no better time than now to pick up a piece from Ferragamo’s new collection.

As luck may have it, you may even find a piece wrapped amongst your lucky red envelopes.
