Victoria’s Secret Model Georgia Fowler Reveals Her Pre-Show Exercise Routine

And what the audition process is really like

Since bursting onto the fashion scene, 26-year-old Georgia Fowler has very quickly been sorted into the ambiguous ‘Down Under’ category, essentially a list of talented New Zealanders we wish we could claim as our own. Ahem, Jacinda Ardern

But while the brunette bombshell may have been born across the ditch, she now resides either in New York City or in an airport lounge, travelling the world with modelling as one of the most sought-after new faces in the industry.

Despite starting her career as a teenager, it was when she secured a spot in the 2016 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show that Georgia’s career really skyrocketed. She’s represented by IMG – the agency behind the likes of Gigi Hadid and Cara Delevingne – and now a runway regular, walking for the likes of Balmain, Miu Miu and a little closer to home: opening Camilla & Marc’s MBFWA show earlier this year.

On auditioning for Victoria’s Secret, the biggest fashion show on earth, Georgia says it’s “quite terrifying” because “it means so much to you.”

“You’ve put so much work to get to that point and ultimately, even when you’ve done the hardest work it’s still up to a team of people there,” she explains.

“I was still very nervous this year, but at least going in I now know the faces, I know the people there, so I can go up and give them a kiss, instead of it just being a complete stranger. Most girls have to do a pre-audition, but if you’ve done the show before you go straight to the callbacks.”

But it’s not all smooth sailing from there: “In the callbacks, there’s still probably 200+ girls – a room full of the most beautiful girls – there are lights and cameras and a whole lot of interviews behind-the-scenes. It’s still very daunting.”

With a photo of Adriana Lima on the front of her diary at high school, Georgia’s dream was always to walk the famed runway extravaganza, something that came true in 2016, before she was confirmed to walk the show again in 2017 and this year’s event set to kick off in just a few days’ time

On her pre-show exercise routine, Georgia notes that she’s a perfectionist and wants to be sure she’s looking her absolute best for the runway. Despite travelling non-stop for work over the past few weeks, she’s managed to get to the gym for a workout every day. How? “Because no one else is going to do it for you,” she laughs.

“I’m really proud of myself because every single day I got in there. I set myself a running goal because I’m not a runner, so that was different for me. I love strength training, I work out with my trainer in New York a lot.”

On her diet, Georgia sticks to an adequate amount of protein, loads of leafy greens and a good amount of healthy fats.

“I’ll have an avocado with every meal or lots of walnuts. I try to be super healthy and eat nothing processed. When I wake up, I’ll have a tea with some apple cider vinegar and then I’ll have a coffee. Then straight to the gym for a hard workout, a healthy breakfast and then I’ll go meet some friends for lunch – that is, if I’m not working.”

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is taking place in New York City on November 8th. For all the details – including how to watch in Australia, head here.
