Packing for a holiday is one of the hardest things about holidaying. In fact, a recent study showed itโs the second most stressful thing about going away โ beat out only by airport security. So, how does one pack successfully?
According to Jesinta Franklin, itโs all in the details. Sharing on her Instagram Stories a hack for packing, Franklin says she saves all her dust bags from designer purchases and uses them to pack her shoes. Genius!
โIt just protects them when you travel,โ she says. The model also admits how she separates her skincare and make-up in different cosmetics cases, in order to find products quickly and efficiently. Watch below for her entire guide:
Below, our team weighs in with their number one packing tips. From cubes to voltage, donโt get on a plane without noting at least one of these down.
Think before you pack
โMy number one packing tip: only pack things that donโt require ironing. Nobody likes ironing, especially when youโre on holidays, so just eliminate it entirely.โ Hannah Crawley, Digital Content Manager
Enlist help
โPacking cubes are my secret to always having an organised suitcase. They can be bought at camping and travel stores and will allow you to separate all your items into categories. I usually have my tops/jumpers, pants, underwear in their own cubes, set one aside for dirty washing, another for shoes and another for medicines. Itโs especially good when youโre moving around a lot and donโt want to fully unpack. Honestly, worth the investment!โ Francesca Wallace, Senior Digital Fashion Editor
Prepare for the dirties
โAlways pack a reusable bag (just like you get from the supermarket) to pop your dirty clothes in when your going from destination to destination without the opportunity to get to a laundry. That way they stay separated from your nice clean clothes and it makes it easier to determine what needs washing and what doesnโt when you head back home.โ Grace Back, Digital News and Entertainment Editor
Donโt forget about electricity
โMake sure you check the voltage in your hotel โ most international outlets not only have a different plug but older buildings have old-school electrical wiring which means your prized Dyson hairdryer might not amp up to its regular speed. Better yet, leave you hot tools at home and avoid any hair blunders by packing a few light weight Velcro rollers. Just pop them in the top layer of your hair after a shower while youโre doing your make-up. The steam will help set the hair and give you a lovely off-duty bounce without looking too โdoneโ.โ Arielle Tsoukatos, Senior Digital Beauty & Lifestyle Editor
