Sanderson Sisters Unite, The Trailer For ‘Hocus Pocus 2’ is Here And It’s Spooktacular

Same cast, new spooks.

Nothing warms the cockles of our hearts like an iconic, nostalgic movie from the 90s.

There’s something about the familiarity of it all that immediately soothes our souls, and while some things are better left in the past, others can be undeniably benefitted by a modern twist. The latest 90s classic to undergo the reboot treatment, is the unforgettable Halloween flick, Hocus Pocus

Starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy as the inimitably spooky Sanderson sisters, the movie tells the story of their child-hungry mission to achieve immortality. Going head-to-head with a group of local children, it’s a battle of good and evil that we’ll simply never tire of watching.

Now, with the sequel hitting our screens this year, it’s been a cool 29 years since the original film debuted, and while a lot has changed since then, some things are still very much the same.

Below, everything we know about Hocus Pocus 2—from the plot to the trailer and its 2022 release date.

What is the plot of Hocus Pocus 2?

The sequel to the 1993 Halloween classic takes a more female-driven approach, with three young women accidentally bringing the three witches back to modern-day Salem after lighting a Black Flame Candle. After realising their mistake, the trio must stop the child-hungry witches from wreaking havoc on the entire town and endangering their friends.

We can’t wait to watch this showdown.

Who is starring in Hocus Pocus 2?

To the relief of fans everywhere, Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy will all reprise their roles as Sarah, Winifred and Mary respectively.

Vinessa Shaw, who played Allison in the original, expressed her disappointment that she was not asked to return for the sequel.

“It would be so much fun. I think there’s just a different storyline with younger people, but why can’t we all come back in some way?” she told Entertainment Tonight

Omri Katz, who played protagonist Max has since quit acting and become a hair stylist, so he is unlikely to return. Thora Birch, who played his younger sister, tweeted about the sequel in May 2021, but has not officially commented on whether or not she will return.

Apart from the three, iconic sisters, the film will mostly include new cast members. The three young women who accidentally summon the Sanderson sisters have been revealed to be Becca (Gossip Girl’s Whitney Peak), Cassie (Dirt’s Lilia Buckingham) and Izzy (American Horror Stories’ Belissa Escobedo).

Sam Richardson (Veep), Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso), Juju Brener (Vanquish), Tony Hale (Veep) and Froy Guiterrez (Teen Wolf).
