Julia Roberts, Fashion Legend, Just Wore A Dress With George Clooney’s Face All Over It

Unexpected? Yes. Iconic? Definitely.

Julia Roberts has reached peak red carpet dressing. Specifically, she reached that peak in the 90s and has held strong since—which means that now she could wear literally anything and it’d be a moment, including a dress with pictures of George Clooney printed over it from top to bottom.

And that’s exactly what she just did. The Ticket To Paradise actor managed to turn her co-star into a full-blown fashion statement by showing up to a glitzy White House event in a Moschino gown covered in portraits of Clooney’s devilishly handsome barnet. The dress was custom designed by the brand’s creative director Jeremy Scott, and, with the help of stylist Elizabeth Stewart, Roberts added a smart black blazer with Chopard jewellery to finish the look.

It was clearly a tongue-in-cheek moment not wasted on either party—Clooney himself was in attendance at the Kennedy Centre Honours event alongside his wife, Amal Clooney. Given the Hollywood veteran was an honouree of the night, it kind of makes sense why Roberts decided to pay such a sartorial tribute to the man, the legend himself.

That said, she didn’t steal the limelight for too long. Once she’d finished the red carpet element of the night Roberts changed into a black suit—iconic in itself given she’s the OG Hollywood queen of suiting

This isn’t the first time Roberts has turned her nearest and dearest into a fashion statement. Back in September, the actor wore a stunning black floor length Alexander McQueen gown which was embellished with the initials of her husband, Danny Moder, and her three children, Hazel, Henry and Phinnaeus. Scattered around their initials were love hearts.

It’s clear she’s incredibly close with her family—in marie claire‘s November cover story, Roberts opened up about how they had navigated the Covid-19 lockdown together.

“I would sort of joke and say, ‘We’ve been training for lockdown our entire lives as a family,'” the actor explained, adding, “We were lucky it didn’t come as a big shock to our systemic understanding of each other to be locked in a house together, because I know that part was really hard on some families.”

Roberts also said she was aware that it was particularly difficult for her daughter, but that she’s since come through it wiser and brighter.

“It’s nice to see her emerge and return to herself. I think she’s got a good head on her shoulders.”
