Las Vegas Shooter May Have First Planned To Target Lorde Concert: Reports

Reports have linked Stephen Paddock to the Life Is Beautiful Festival

Lone gunman Stephen Paddock opened fire upon 22,000 people at a Las Vegas music festival on Sunday night, leaving 59 people dead and more than 500 injured. The horrific attack is now considered the deadliest mass shooting in US history.

New reports suggest the gunman may have originally had a different target in his sights instead of the Route 91 Harvest Festival.

According to The Daily Beast, Stephen Paddock rented multiple condos that overlooked the Life Is Beautiful Festival in Las Vegas last week, where Lorde, Chance the Rapper and Muse performed.

A source briefed on investigations into the shootings told The Daily Beast that Paddock might have changed his plans or lost his never before switching his target to Sunday’s festival. Staff could not confirm if the gunman stayed at the 21-storey Ogden towers.

The 64-year-old gunman armed himself with more than 10 rifles before shooting at the crowd from the window of the nearby Mandalay Bay hotel.

Paddock’s girlfriend, who was outside of America at the time of the shooting, has been located and identified as Australian woman Marilou Danley, who moved to the US from Queensland over a decade ago, 7 News reports.

Paddock had no police record or history of violence and reportedly killed himself as police stormed his hotel room.
