What started as a report from a “reliable source” on Instagram gossip page DeuxMoi has allegedly been confirmed, as Adele dons a sparkling diamond ring on her wedding finger over the weekend.
Rumours of a possible engagement between Adele, 34, and boyfriend Paul Rich, 41, first swirled in February 2022, when the singer walked the red carpet at the BRIT Awards sporting what looked to be an engagement ring– a massive Lorraine Schwartz pear-shaped diamond. At the time, the jewellery brand told Page Six that the ring was selected simply to match a pair of diamond earrings she also wore to the event. But in an appearance on the Graham Norton Show just days later, Adele had removed the earrings, while still wearing the impressive ring.
Then, to complicate things further, less than two weeks later, she was snapped at a basketball game with no ring in sight.
So in the year that has passed since the first sighting of a supposed ‘engagement ring’, do we finally have confirmation that the singer’s sports agent partner has popped the question? Fans seem to think so.
Audiences at her Las Vegas residency, Weekends With Adele, over the weekend were quick to spot the same engagement-esque ring on the singer’s finger, reigniting the rumours that she might now be engaged.
Speaking to ELLE US on her blossoming relationship back in August 2022, Adele confessed, “I’ve never been in love like this. I’m obsessed with him.”
Later in the same interview, when asked if the pair are engaged, she responded elusively, “Well! Well. Well, I’m not married.” In a conversation shortly after, however, ELLE US reports that the singer confessed, “I’m not engaged. I just love high-end jewellery, boy!”
Adele and Rich first went public with their relationship in July 2021, sitting courtside together at an NBA game. Just two months later, they made their romance Instagram official, with Adele sharing a subtle snap of the pair together.
Fast forward to May 2022, and the pair purchased a Beverly Hills mansion, whose former owner was none other than Sylvester Stallone. To mark the occasion, the singer shared a sweet snap to Instagram of the couple happily holding the keys to their new abode.
So while we don’t yet know for certain whether Adele is set to tie the knot, it looks like a future wedding could definitely be on the cards, with the singer adding in her interview with ELLE Us, “I’m a homemaker and I’m a matriarch, and a stable life helps me with my music.”
