Kingston Frazier, who was supposed to graduate kindergarten yesterday, had been waiting for his mum to finish shopping on at a supermarket in Mississippi when two men pulled up and jumped inside the car.

The vehicle was found 24 kilometres away, with the child dead in the backseat from a single gunshot wound, reports the Clarion-Ledger.

Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder, the two men who stole the car and a third who is thought to be an accomplice.

Kingstonโ€™s family were caught on video collapsing and sobbing uncontrollably after learning about his death. โ€œWhy, God, why?โ€ a person can be heard screaming.

โ€œJust a great, great, 6-year-old who we just canโ€™t imagine that something like this would happen, that people would have in their heart to do that to a 6-year-old,โ€ Frazierโ€™s uncle, David Archie, told the Clarion-Ledger.

โ€œEven if I was mad at the world, I couldnโ€™t do this to a 6-year-old,โ€ he said. โ€œTo me, itโ€™s hatred. There is nothing out there worth taking a 6-year-oldโ€™s lifeโ€ฆI can tell you this, we wonโ€™t rest until theyโ€™re brought to justiceโ€ฆYou can believe that.โ€
