Hugh Jackman And Deborra Lee-Furness To Split After 27 Years Together

We did not see this coming.

Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness have always seemed like a fairytale coupling, but it seems that despite 27 years together and two children, the pair are calling it quits.

“We have been blessed to share almost three decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage,” they said in the joint statement via People.

“Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.”

Hugh, 54, and Deborra-Lee, 67, added that this would be the only public statement they would make about their split and that they hope the next chapter is filled with “gratitude, love and kindness.”

It’s a shock for fans of the couple who have long aspired to their seemingly strong connection. The pair met back in 1995 on ABC TV show Corelli, where Jackman played a prisoner and Furness a prison psychologist.

At the time, Furness had been the household name, but Jackman would go on to pursue a career in major Hollywood films such as Wolverine and The Greatest Showman.

Hugh and Deborra-Lee married just after a year of dating, in 1996. They went on to have two children, Oscar, now 23, and then Ava, now 18.

There were no signs that the pair were due to split, with them attending Wimbledon in July 2023.

Jackman’s last post about his wife was in April for their 27th wedding anniversary.

“I love you so much. Together we have created a beautiful family. And life,” he wrote. “Your laughter, your spirit, generosity, humour, cheekiness, courage and loyalty is an incredible gift to me.”
