The Trailer For Gwyneth Paltrow’s ‘The Goop Lab’ Is Here

The miniseries will "push the boundaries and exploration of wellness topics"

Despite a slew of lawsuits and unforgiving social media jibes over the years, Gwyneth Paltrow has yet to give up on lifestyle brand Goop. In fact, she’s bringing her controversial company to the small screen this month and Netflix has just dropped a trailer for the forthcoming series titled The Goop Lab.

The preview offers a glimpse of what viewers can expect from the six-episode series which sees Paltrow and Goop Chief Content Officer, Elise Loehnen, taking on the role of presenters.

Starting as the miniseries means to go on, the trailer opens with a woman experiencing an orgasm during a mysterious workshop to which Paltrow responds: “What the f**k are you doing to these people?” Our thoughts exactly.

At the preview screening, Paltrow showed off her abs at a special screening of the new Netflix series. Wearing a matching G. Label set, the 47-year-old actress proved the Goop lifestyle clearly works.

Throughout the trailer, the actress-turned-entrepreneur interviews alternative health practitioners to discuss boundary-pushing wellness topics including women’s energy healing, psychedelics, masturbation and anti-ageing.

“What we try to do at Goop is explore ideas that may seem outthere or too scary,” Elise Loehnen explains in the clip.

Unsurprisingly, the trailer has raised a few eyebrows on Twitter with users criticising Paltrow for making false scientific claims in years gone by.

“The most horrifying thing about this is the word ‘lab’ which implies some sort of science which Goop has nothing to do with!” one tweeted.

“Also, the boldness of Gwynnie coming to us from a vagina – a place she told u to stick jade eggs! This whole show is a danger to our health.”

Another also warned of the Netflix series’ implications, adding: “Goop plays on women’s very real anxieties about medical misinformation and distrust of their lived experiences to peddle snake oils that enrich its founder and do nothing to improve women’s health, challenge hierarchical power in medicine, or improve our connection to our bodies.”

A third tweeted, “I’m incredibly disappointed that Netflix is giving this pseudoscience bull sh** a platform. Goop is not scientifically tested. Gwyneth Paltrow is not a health care professional. Her advice is harmful. This is incredibly inappropriate and irresponsible of Netflix.”

The upcoming series comes amid a recent string of lawsuits against Goop with accusations that the company has made several misleading claims regarding some of its most famous products.

Back in September 2018, the brand famously agreed to pay $200,000 in civil penalties after the California Food, Drug and Medical Device Task Force took Goop to court over its vaginal eggs.

Paltrow’s company claimed that its jade and quartz eggs can “balance hormones, regulate menstrual cycles, prevent uterine prolapse, and increase bladder control,” but the claims were later classified as false.

Goop is currently facing another lawsuit after using an image by photographer Larry Singer to sell products without permission.

The Goop Lab will land on Netflix on January 24.
