Mother Heartbroken After Three-Year-Old Dies During Routine Dental Procedure

"I took my daughter to the dentist because they were going to fix her teeth"

When Californian mother Araceli Avila took her 3-year-old daughter for a routine dental procedure on Monday, the little girl was โ€œvery healthyโ€ and โ€œvivacious and full of lifeโ€.

Fox 40 reports Ms Avilaโ€™s daughter, Daleyza, was admitted to a childrenโ€™s dental surgery centre to have two teeth removed and two teeth capped.

But Daleyzaโ€™s mother spotted an ambulance arrive during the surgery and was told by a nurse that something had gone wrong. She was informed her daughterโ€™s heart had stopped.

โ€œAll I did was I took my daughter to the dentist because they were going to fix her teeth, and about 30 minutes later they brought her back dead,โ€ Ms Avila said.

โ€œI donโ€™t want this to happen to another mother like itโ€™s happening to me.โ€

The administrator of Childrenโ€™s Dental Surgery Center, David Thompson, told Fox 40 that Daleyza had a reaction to the anesthetics. She was stabilised and then taken to Saint Josephโ€™s Hospital.

โ€œItโ€™s a terrible, terrible tragedy honestly and our thoughts and prayers are really with the family right now,โ€ he said.
