Katie Boulter may not have made it past the second round of Wimbledon 2025, but the British tennis star’s career – and global profile – is far from cooling down. As the current British No.2, a regular at the majors and one half of tennis’ most stylish power couple, Boulter has cemented herself as a player (and personality) worth knowing.
Over the past two years, Boulter has been quietly rising through the ranks of the international tennis circuit, carving out a name for herself not only as a powerful on-court competitor, but also as a cultural force with an ability to bridge the worlds of high fashion and professional sport – a feat not many players manage with ease.
Following a strong opening match, Boulter may have exited Wimbledon 2025 earlier than anticipated, but Boulter remains a player of note: technically proficient, stylistically influential, and in possession of a global fan base that continues to grow.
So who exactly is Katie Boulter and why is the tennis world watching her every move? Below, everything to know about her impressive career, undeniable influence and relationship with Australian tennis pro, Alex de Minaur.
Who Is Katie Boulter?

28-year-old Katie Boulter was born on August 1, 1996, in Leicester, England – a town with a population of just over 1600. Hailing from a long line of tennis players including her grandmother, Gill Gartshore and mother, Susan Boulter, she began playing tennis at age five, encouraged by her mother, a former Great Britain representative.
Speaking about her early days in the sport, Boulter admitted that while her family history was a factor in her athletic pursuit, the real motivator was of the brotherly kind. “When we were younger, beating my big brother was a big motivation for me! I don’t think he realised it at the time,” Katie told BBC Sport.
“We used to practise together at this local court down the road from our house. It was the only thing I could eventually beat him in, so that felt great.”
Boulter was just eight when she represented England for the first time, going on to take home Rome’s Lemon Bowl championship at 11 before making it through to the finals of Florida’s junior Orange Bowl – an accomplishment she shares with great Andy Murray and Caroline Wozniacki – at just 14.

Despite her early success, her rise hasn’t been linear. Diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome in 2016, Boulter struggled to stay on top of her hectic training schedule and was forced to take a year off from the professional circuit.
After coming back stronger than ever in 2018 to become the first Briton to break into the top 100 rankings in over three years, she suffered another setback in 2019, when a spinal injury cost her the rest of the season.
But her comeback has been more than impressive: she won her first WTA title at the 2023 Rothesay Open Nottingham, reached multiple third rounds at Grand Slams, and led Britain’s Billie Jean King Cup team with a string of clutch performances. In November 2024, she reached a career-high of World No. 23.
Since then, she’s continued to dominate the 2025 tennis circuit and cultivate off-court partnerships with the likes of Pragness and Ralph Lauren.
What Is Katie Boulter’s Current Ranking?
Despite her recent Wimbledon loss, Boulter remains one of the most talented and well-rounded players in women’s tennis. As of July 2025, she holds the No. 2 ranking among British women and sits as world No 43 in the WTA singles.
Who Is Katie Boulter In A Relationship With?

Aside from her impressive career stats, the British athlete has also garnered global attention (particularly on local shores) for her sweet relationship with Australian tennis star Alex de Minaur.
The pair have been together since 2020 and confirmed their engagement in late 2024, with their chemistry – both on and off the court – making them a fan favourite duo.
At Wimbledon 2022, De Minaur famously cut short a live interview to praise his partner: “Can we just talk about Katie Boulter?’ the world No 11, practically purred, sending the viewers into wild and eliciting a heartwarming response from Boulter as she exited her match. The moment went viral for a reason and thus the world’s obsession with tennis’ latest power couple, began.
Boulter and de Minaur have been together for five years, but they didn’t meet courtside. Boulter told the Sydney Morning Herald that they had a chance meeting, bumping into each other while staying in the same hotel.
“I knew Alex to say hi to because we had mutual friends: he had a reputation as a good and humble person,” she said. “Then one day, when we were staying in the same hotel we bumped into each other at six in the morning and ended up getting a coffee. From that moment, I knew I was in it for the long haul.”

She’s also said that tennis comes first for both of them and that their shared ambition powers their relationship. “We’re on the same wavelength when it comes to our priorities. Tennis is where we want to be – and the rest will come,” she told Tatler.
As it turns out, the connection was game, set and match, with the power couple announcing their engagement in December 2024.
Sharing the happy news to Instagram at the time, Boulter wrote: “We’ve been keeping a small secret…” accompanied by a picture of the happy couple – and of course the engagement ring to prove it.
What’s Next for Katie Boulter?
While Wimbledon 2025 didn’t go exactly as planned, Boulter is still very much in the mix for a standout season. With the US Open approaching and hard-court tournaments on the horizon, she has time, and the tools, to climb back into the WTA top 30.
She’s also tipped to be a major player in the Billie Jean King Cup later this year, where she has previously delivered standout performances for Team GB.
