Rather than opting for a contemporary statement stone, Kelce worked with Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewellery to create a ring centred on a rare old mine-cut diamond. The softly rounded stone is bezel-set in yellow gold and finished with delicate hand engraving along the band.

The sizeable old mine-cut diamond is believed to weigh between seven and ten carats, with its exceptional colour and craftsmanship contributing to an estimated multimillion-dollar valuation.

Speaking on the British radio show Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Emma Bunton on October 3, the same day The Life of a Showgirl was released, Swift offered insight into the story behind her engagement ring.

She revealed that she had introduced Travis to Kindred Lubeck’s jewellery long before the proposal, saying, “I just thought her stuff was so cool, so I had shown him a video a year and a half ago…And he was paying attention to everything it turns out…when I saw the ring I was like [gasp], ‘I know who made that!’…He listens to me! Like, you really know me. I didn’t know what I would want, but he did somehow, and that’s kind of a flex.”

Summing up Kelce’s efforts, she added: “He did amazing!”

Brisbane-based jewellery designer Nick Ireland, estimates Swift’s engagement ring costs around US $1 million (approx. AU $1.54m).

For those wanted to replicate the ring, however, Ireland notes there’s a much-more affordable option. “For as little as $10,000, you can recreate something that appears to be very similar to this style,” he tells marie claire Australia. This would get you a 5ct Lab grown antique cut diamond solitaire ring with the same look and feel as this ring here.”

What Is An Old Mine-Cut?

Old mine-cut diamonds date back to the 18th century and were the precursor to today’s modern brilliant cuts. Hand-cut long before the advent of precision machinery, each stone possesses subtle variations that lend it a character and warmth impossible to replicate.

Rather than prioritising perfect symmetry, old mine cuts are prized for their individuality, softly rounded silhouette and unmistakable antique charm.

It’s a fitting choice for Swift. Throughout her career, she’s consistently drawn on nostalgia, weaving history, memory and storytelling into both her music and personal style. Her engagement ring feels like an extension of that sensibility: an appreciation for craftsmanship, provenance and enduring design.
