If you’re a gin drinker (who isn’t these days?!), then we don’t need to introduce you to Four Pillars as we’re sure you’re well acquainted with the Australian gin already. But what you might not know is that your favourite tipple is now also the world’s favourite gin. Yep, Four Pillars was just crowned the 2019 International Gin Producer of the Year in London during the International Wine & Spirit Competition.
The Yarra Valley-based gin distillery is the first Australian producer to be awarded the prestigious title, which has been likened to the Oscars of the alcohol industry.
“Never in our wildest dreams did we think while we were making test batches back in 2013 that just shy of six years old we’d be claiming this title on the world stage!” wrote Four Pillars on their Instagram.
“The award is not for a single one of our gins but for the whole of our gin business and that’s what makes it so incredibly special,” Four Pillars distiller and co-founder Cameron Mackenzie told Good Food.
“The previous two winners of this award are Herno from Sweden in 2017 and Kyoto Distillery in Japan last year, so we couldn’t be in better company. They are two of the greatest distilleries and two of our best mates in the world of gin.”
Never tried Four Pillars before? If you’re into your flavoured gins right now, you have to try their Spiced Negroni Gin.
Or if you’re feeling festive, their limited edition bottle of Bloody Shiraz Gin 2019 will make any gin lover all kinds of merry this Christmas.
Or for a crisp classic gin, you can’t beat their Rare Dry Gin. Their original and best.
