Amelia Dimoldenberg has gone from underestimated journalism student to viral sensation and red-carpet staple with grace and humour thanks to her iconic series, ‘Chicken Shop Date’. Now, in a move that feels like the natural next step, she’s adding movie star to her resume.

The best part? The premise for the upcoming film sounds delightfully familiar.

Per Variety, the romantic comedy, produced by Amazon MGM Studios’ Orion Pictures, will see Dimoldenberg star as a “by-the-book journalist whose carefully planned life unravels when a routine celebrity interview unexpectedly turns into a romance that makes her question everything she believes about love.”

Given the Chicken Shop Date host’s flirty banter with literally everyone she encounters is why audiences fell in love with her, we’d argue this is the perfect role.

In addition to starring in and producing the romantic comedy, Dimoldenberg is working with Gloria Sanchez Productions — the production company behind films like Booksmart and Will & Harper. The screenplay is being written by Sarah Heyward, a writer known for her work on TV shows such as Girls, Modern Love, and Nobody Wants This

The untitled project marks Dimoldenberg’s first foray into film as she makes the leap from host to bonafide star. She previously made a cameo in HBO’s hit series, Industry, where she again played a rather tongue-in-cheek role as a reporter named Vivian Poulet-Magasin, which translates from French to be Vivian Chicken-Shop.

The 32-year-old has become a red carpet regular as both interviewer and guest in recent years, bringing her awkward charm to Hollywood beyond the confines of a local chicken shop. Some of Dimoldenberg’s most memorable ‘dates’ include Jennifer Lawrence, Louis Theroux, Harris Dickinson and (while technically not in her typical Chicken Shop format) her red carpet run-ins with Andrew Garfield.

We can’t wait.
