I don’t know about you, but this past year in television has felt monumental (particularly for the girlies). So, the announcement of the 2026 Emmy nominations has had more anticipation than ever.
However, some of the biggest shows of the year have been notably snubbed including Off Campus and Heated Rivalry. The latter is due to the hit Crave show being completely Canadian funded and produced, rendering it ineligible to qualify. Lead actor, Connor Storrie did receive a nomination but not for his role in the drama, rather his appearance on Saturday Night Live – his stint as host back in February landing him a Best Guest Actor In A Comedy nom.
On the news, Storrie told The Hollywood Reporter: “It [SNL] was a formative part of my life growing up, so to be recognized by the Academy for hosting feels incredibly surreal. I’m so grateful to everyone who made that night possible”
As for Prime Video’s ice hockey romance, ineligibility wasn’t an issue. Despite being submitted for consideration in multiple (five) categories, the show didn’t get a single nod. Outrageous!
So who did get a nomination, you ask. Jason Bateman leads the pack with four nominations across performance, directing and producing. He’s got company, closely followed by Quinta Brunson, Paul W. Downs, Matthew Rhys, Jason Segel, Martin Short and Noah Wyle who all scored a triple-nomination haul, while a bumper crop of double nominees (Sterling K. Brown, Claire Danes, Michelle Pfeiffer, Sarah Snook and Keri Russell among them).
Last year, The Studio and Adolescence were the night’s undisputed champions. Seth Rogen’s satire scooped four wins including best comedy and best actor, while Adolescence swept six, crowning Owen Cooper the youngest-ever male acting winner and sending Stephen Graham home with a hat-trick.
