The Taylor Swift Life Of A Showgirl reveals just keep coming with the global pop star announcing a movie over the weekend.
Just when fans were on the comedown of her record-breaking Eras Tour, Taylor announced her 12th studio album was coming – and soon.
Calendars were marked and countdowns initiated, only for the ‘Cruel Summer’ singer to make another surprise reveal that a movie celebrating The Life Of A Showgirl was also imminent.
What Is The Life Of A Showgirl Movie?
Taylor Swift’s Showgirl movie isn’t a documentary or autobiographical film, but a release party to celebrate the premiere of her first music video from the new album, ‘The Fate Of Ophelia’.
Not only will fans be the first to see the new clip, but there will be “never before seen behind-the-scenes footage” from the making of the video. We can only assume (read: hope) there will be easter eggs aplenty for fans to dissect with the total runtime being estimated at 89 minutes.
Taylor made the announcement via Instagram, writing, “I hereby invite you to a *dazzling* soirée, The Official Release Party of a Showgirl: Oct 3 – Oct 5 only in cinemas!
“You’ll get to see the exclusive world premiere of the music video for my new single “The Fate of Ophelia”, along with never before seen behind-the-scenes footage of how we made it, cut by cut explanations of what inspired this music, and the brand new lyric videos from my new album The Life of a Showgirl ❤️🔥”
When Is Taylor Swift’s The Life Of A Showgirl Movie Being Released In Australia?
Both the new album and the movie will be released on the same date of October 3rd but for Australians that will be October 4.
The movie will have a very limited run of just two days, running internationally from October 3 to 5 in select cinemas, which will likely translate to Oct 4 to 6 in Australia.

Event, Village and Hoyts cinemas are all currently advertising showings for the new movie.
While tickets are not on sale for Australian screenings yet, you can sign up to their mailing lists to be the first to know when tickets will drop.
