It’s happening!! After sending the internet into a frenzied meltdown with a coordinated drop of last minute clues, Taylor Swift has announced her next and twelfth album, The Life Of A Showgirl, is officially coming (complete with movie, too).
As the website countdown hit zero, a glittering orange screen transformed to send fans to Taylor Swift’s official online store. Within, fans discovered what they’d been longing, hoping and perhaps even praying for: a new album is on the way.
The store front currently displays options to pre-order the singer’s next album in multiple formats: vinyl, cassette and CD with poster. Each symbol is covered with an orange lock – the colour of which fans already began unpacking in the lead up.
It wasn’t just the website that made the huge reveal. As previous speculated, Taylor shared the announcement news with boyfriend Travis Kelce via his podcast with brother Jason, New Heights.
“Posted at 12:12 on the 12th. ❤️🔥 Tay’s 12th album is called…………” the post captioned.
In the clip we get a teaser of the upcoming New Heights podcast episode, featuring guest star, Taylor, presumably organised for this album announcement. Swift grabs a custom mint green briefcase with her initials branded on the front in orange before Jason asks: “What do we got? A briefcase, mint green with TS on it.”
The ‘Curel Summer’ singer then reveals a bluured out vinyl record, saying “my brand new album, The Life Of A Showgirl” and Travis yells: “TS 12!”
The Clues That Led To Taylor Swift’s Life Of A Showgirl
Taylor Swift fans had been piecing together a trail of clues that suggested the singer was preparing to announce her twelfth studio album. The speculation began when Taylor Nation, Swift’s official marketing team, posted a carousel of 12 orange-hued Eras Tour photos to Instagram, accompanied by the caption: “Thinking about when she said ‘See you next era…’.” Swifties linked the orange theme and the number 12 directly to “TS12.”
Fuel was added when Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast teased an early return with a “VERY special guest.” Fans spotted Jason Kelce wearing an Eras Tour jumper, a guest silhouette shaped like Taylor, and a glittering orange background. It was later confirmed Swift would appear on the August 13 (U.S.)/August 14 (AEST) episode.
Finally, Swift’s official website launched a countdown ending at 12:12 p.m. (New York time) on August 12 — a triple “12” that fans believed confirmed the timing of her new album announcement.
As any Swiftie will know, The Life Of A Showgirl Easter eggs run far deeper than just the last day. Swift began wearing the colour orange strategically throughout her Eras Tour. On the 12th night of her European tour leg, fans quickly linked the colour to Taylor’s next album.
“Taylor wore all orange for the 12th European show,” one Twitter user called out. “Karma (TS12) is that you calling?”
