The MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) are back for 2026, and this year’s ceremony may be the most anticipated in the show’s history (if I say so myself), and it’s all because of Taylor Swift.
The ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’ singer announced her extended album, The Life Of The Showgirl: The Encore, this week, sending the Swifties into a spiral. She wasn’t done there, following up with the news that she would debut the music video for her new single, ‘Patient Zero’, during the 2026 VMAs.
The first clip, shared to Swift’s socials, teased a star-studded cast of Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell in an ominous and dark setting, including black roses and a graveside visit from Swift and Johnson.
The VMAs have a long history of creating some of the most iconic (for better or worse) and memorable pop culture moments. Who could forget Beyoncé revealing her first pregnancy, Kanye West interrupting Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech or that kiss between Madonna and Britney Spears?
Throw in the confirmed music video debut from Taylor, and the VMAs are not the awards show to miss. So when and where can Australians tune in?
When Are The 2026 VMAs In Australian Time?
The 2026 Vide Music Awards aka the VMAs will take place on Sunday September 27th U.S. time at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California.
Formalities will kick off from 7.30pm E.T., which for Australians will translate to Monday September 28th at 9:30 a.m. AEST for those on the east coast.
