Kim Kardashian Is Facing Backlash Over Her Latest Video

The reality TV star has since issued an apology

Reality TV star Kim Kardashian uploaded a now deleted Halloween video on Wednesday 31st of October, where she was seen calling people the R-word when they failed to recognise the celebrity she had dressed up as to Kendall Jenner’s birthday party.

Kardashian dressed up as Pamela Anderson alongside her best friend Jonathon Cheban, who went as Tommy-Lee, and apparently, not many of the guests knew who she and Cheban had drawn their inspiration from.

The beauty mogul posted on her Instagram videos of her going around and asking party guests to guess her costume. In the video she is (rightfully) being criticised for, Kim spoke to her former assistant and close friend Stephanie Shepard and said, “Nobody knows who I am. Yeah! R*******!”

Kim has since released an apology to TMZ on November 1st, the statement read,

“I want to apologize for what I said in a recent video post that is inappropriate and insensitive to the special needs community. I try to learn from my mistakes and this is one of those times. Please know that my intention is always pure, and in this case, it was a mistake. I’m sorry.”

We hope Kim learns from her mistakes too. The R-word is insulting, derogatory and considered hate speech and has been used to alienate and exclude people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

This isn’t the first time a Kardashian has been flippant with their use of derogatory terms. Kim’s sister’s Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian have been called out before for using the R-word during on Instagram live video.

According to US Weekly Kourtney was heard off-camera saying, “Yes, you can, you f*ck*ng r*****.”  Khloé was then heard replying to Kourtney, “Are you f*ck*ng r*******?”

Whilst Kourtney did not address the criticism, Khloe apologised on Twitter writing, “Ugh I hate that word! Why did I even say that? You are a million percent right and I actually greatly dislike when people use that word! I will do better! I am sorry! much love today.”

Let’s hope the Kardashian’s learn from this much-needed call-out.
