Prince Harry Has Reportedly Received A ‘Save The Date’ For King Charles’ Coronation

Their response is telling about their current relationship.

After months of speculation about Prince Harry’s RSVP status for his father’s upcoming coronation, it seems that we finally have a hint at whether the Sussexes are actually planning on attending King Charles III’s big day.

The coronation, which will take place at Westminster Abbey on May 6, has already turned into a slight PR nightmare for Buckingham Palace.

What should’ve been a celebratory affair for the new era of the British monarchy has been shrouded in controversy and unequivocally overshadowed by whether Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will show their faces.

Of course, that’s not even mentioning the fact that Britain’s biggest musical names have declined to perform at the occasion and Charles has changed Camilla Parker-Bowles incoming title from ‘Queen Consort’ to ‘Queen.

Now, we finally have a hint at whether the Sussexes will actually make the 11 hour flight from their mansion in Montecito to London later this year.

What Has Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Said About Attending King Charles III’s Coronation?

In a statement released by representatives of Harry and Meghan, a spokesperson confirmed that the Prince did indeed receive the palace’s official ‘save the date’.

“I can confirm the Duke has recently received email correspondence from His Majesty’s office regarding the coronation,” a spokesperson revealed.

They didn’t go into detail as to what the email correspondence covered—we wonder if Charles opted for a e-vite or just attached the official invite as a PDF when inviting his estranged son—but the representative hinted at what their response would be.

“An immediate decision on whether the Duke and Duchess will attend will not be disclosed by us at this time,” they added.

Will Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Attend King Charles III’s Coronation?

Given that the Sussexes made an effort to publicly announce that they received official “correspondence”, as they put it, it’s telling at how fraught the relationship between Prince Harry and his father is considering they did not immediately confirm their attendance.

This is arguably the biggest day of Charles’ life, and one he’s been waiting seven decades for, the delayed RSVP can only mean that their strained relationship is by no means near repair.

And given how damning Prince Harry was towards his father and brother, Prince William, in both Spare and his Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, we’re not sure if this invitation could be considered as King Charles extending an olive branch.

As Prince Harry himself wrote in Spare, “the door is always open and the ball is in their court”.

But as far as we know, May 6 is set to be an explosive date in royal history. And we can’t wait to watch it all unfold.
