We’re pretty sure every person who watched The Bachelorette last night experienced the cruellest form of second-hand heartbreak while watching Todd King getting dumped by Ali Oetjen in favour of Taite Radley.
It was certainly one of the more devastating finales, made even worse considering just moments beforehand the impossibly sweet-souled Todd was talking about Ali being the mother of his children to Osher Gunsberg, unaware that he was about to get his heart smashed to pieces.
The moment Ali told Todd she wasn’t choosing him was excruciating to watch, and the pair were red-faced and crying hysterically.
After such an outpouring of emotion, we all assumed that Ali would have ample time to compose herself before confessing her love to Taite – this was definitely not the case.
Speaking to Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa this morning Ali revealed she had less than half an hour to get herself together before facing Taite and confessing her love,
“I think I had 20 minutes (before Taite arrived), I had a little (makeup) touch-up, and that was it.”
While that can’t have been easy for Ali, Taite revealed the process wasn’t much easier for him and that he “was a nervous wreck.”
Taite told the radio hosts, “I was in the car, and I was practising with a couple of producers — they said to me, ‘Just make sure you listen to every word that comes out of Ali’s mouth, because she’s either going to say she loves you or not.’”
While we’re happy for Ali and Taite, we are all keeping our fingers and toes crossed for Todd becoming our new Bachelor.
