‘Why Women Kill’ Is Like ‘Desperate Housewives’ Meets ‘Dead To Me’ And You Need To Stream It ASAP

The binge-worthy distraction you've been looking for

If there’s one thing getting us through these tumultuous times, it’s the seemingly endless offering of excellent content to binge-watch when we’re feeling sad/tired/lonely/in need of distraction.

And in the spirit of bringing you said distraction, meet your next viewing obsession: Why Women Kill.

Made by the creator of Desperate Housewives, the show has garnered comparisons to its predecessor as well as Netflix’s Dead To Me, and frankly, that’s all we need to hear to press ‘play’.

Intrigued? Keep reading for everything you need to know about the show, from the plot to the cast and where you can stream it in Australia.

What Is the Plot of Why Women Kill?

Per the show’s synopsis, Why Women Kill details the lives of three women living in three different decades: a housewife in the ’60s, a socialite in the ’80s, and a lawyer in 2019, each dealing with infidelity in their marriages. The series examines how the roles of women have changed, but their reaction to betrayal… has not.

Despite spanning multiple decades, the show is continuously set in the same mansion in the affluent Los Angeles neighbourhood of Pasadena, where each of the central characters lived during their time. It sets the backdrop for their stories to be intriguingly intertwined throughout the series, underscored by their shared experiences of betrayal.

Plot aside, the show is a visual feast (Lucy Liu’s Dynasty-esque ’80s outfits are giving us life) and its camp, melodramatic style of storytelling makes the whole thing feel deliciously escapist, like a TV version of Chicago’s “Cell Block Tango” (if you know, you know).
