There are few film and TV series adaptations that pique our interest more than those that tackle the legendary creations of Stephen King. The master horror novelist has supplied us with some of the best psychological horrors in recent and distant memory, from The Shining to Carrie to It. His latest project, a miniseries based on the 2006 novel Lisey’s Story looks equally ambitious.
The Lisey’s Story miniseries is being delivered by Apple TV+, and they’re tackling the stellar source material with an equally stellar cast—including the Oscar-nominated acting talents Julianne Moore and Clive Owen. Produced by J.J. Abrams, whose breadth of work ranges from Lost to Star Wars, the eight episodes in the series will also be written by King himself.

While it’s not the first time King and Abrams have collaborated–the duo also worked together on the Hulu series 11.22.63—we are very keen to see what masterful horrors will be conjured under the series’ director: Pablo Larraín.
Larraín is an acclaimed Chilean director who previously helmed the Oscar-nominated Jackie biopic. Devotees of the filmmaker’s work are currently eagerly awaiting his forthcoming Spencer biopic about Princess Diana, starring Kristen Stewart as the titular royal.

What is the plot of Lisey’s Story?
King’s book Lisey’s Story follows a woman named Lisey Landon two years after the death of her husband, who was in life a famous novelist called Scott Landon. She spends much of her time avoiding the memories of her husband, but through the course of the novel, various events dredge what she has buried deep in her psyche to the surface.
Who is in the cast of Lisey’s Story?
Lisey’s Story is set to star Julianne Moore and Clive Owen as the lead characters. Rounding out the cast is Joan Allen, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Dane DeHaan and Ron Cephas Jones.
When will Lisey’s Story be released?
Lisey’s Story will debut on June 4, 2021 on Apple TV+. As with another recent prestige TV series from streaming services, the first two episodes will be released at once, followed by new episodes each week.
