Meghan Markle Praises Prince Harry As A Feminist Role Model For Baby Archie In Conversation With Gloria Steinem

"I look at our son and see what a beautiful example that he gets"

Meghan Markle has sung her praises for Prince Harry for being an incredible feminist role model for son, Archie, in an interview with famed activist Gloria Steinem.

Chatting in Steinem’s backyard, the two women discussed the issue of voter suppression before circling back to how Meghan will raise Archie to be a feminist.

One thing that she’s realised over the years is “it’s not mutually exclusive to be a feminist and be feminine,” the duchess said.

Steinem then replied, “Well, you can also be a feminist and be masculine, and a guy.”

To which Meghan jumped in, “Like my husband!”

“I love that when he just came in he said, ‘You know that I’m a feminist too, right Gloria? It’s really important to me that you know that’,” revealed Steinem.

Meghan then opened up about how she feels Prince Harry will have a positive influence on their son, Archie, growing up.

“I look at our son and [see] what a beautiful example that he gets, to grow up with a father who is so comfortable owning that as part of his own self-identification… [To know] that there’s no shame in being someone who advocates for fundamental human rights for everyone, which of course includes women,” she added.

Steinem then interjected, “And also that he is a nurturing father. Because then your son will grow up knowing it’s okay to be loving and nurturing.”

Meghan also expressed her excitement to see Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee for Vice President, making her the first Black womanas well as the first person of Indian descentto be nominated for office by a major party.

“I’m so excited to see that kind of representation,” Meghan proclaimed.

“You know, for me, being biracial, growing up, whether it was a doll or a person in office, you need to see someone who looks like you in some capacity. As many of us believe, you can only be what you can see.”
