It's happening! Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are about to welcome their first child. Kensington Palace tonight confirmed that the Duchess of Sussex has gone into labour. In a statement, the palace said Meghan went into labour in the early hours of the morning with Prince Harry by her side.
A further announcement will be made soon, the palace said.
Despite previously announcing they wouldn't be making the Duchess' labour public, saying in a statement that "their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private" and that "the Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family," it looks like the pair decided to let the world in on the exciting impending arrival.
The couple, who wed in May last year, announced they were expecting Baby Sussex in November while on their Royal Tour of Australia. The couple later revealed their due date was at the end of April, but did not give specific details.
"Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019," an announcement from England's Kensington Palace said.
“Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.”
It looks like we'll have a new royal baby in mere hours' time.
