Meghan Markle Is A Raven Red Queen As She Returns To The Red Carpet

Coveting this for the foreseeable future.

If there’s one thing we can always count on in this turbulent world of ours, it’s that Meghan Markle will always serve up the fashion goods.

The Duchess of Sussex made her grand return to the red carpet on Wednesday, November 10 alongside her husband Prince Harry as they attended the 2021 Salute to Freedom Gala in New York City.

For the occasion, the 40-year-old wore a stunning bright red Carolina Herrera gown which featured a plunging neckline and a long train, with slits exposing her scarlet pumps by Giuseppe Zanotti.

Meghan wore her hair slicked back in a signature up-do, and she added striking silver earrings to finish the look.

The event was in celebration of military personel and veterans who have served the United States, a community Prince Harry has long been associated with, and is passionate about supporting.

In 2014, the royal created the Invictus Games as a way to inspire and help in recovery for wounded or sick personel and veterans through sport.

The annual Games subsequently became a raging success, and they have since been hosted in countries across Europe, North America and, in 2018, right here in Sydney, Australia.

The New York City event marks the first time the Duke and Duchess have walked a red carpet together since the London premiere of The Lion King in June 2019, which was shortly after the birth of their first son, Archie, now aged three.

Their family became four in June 2021 when Meghan and Harry welcomed their second child—a baby girl named Lilibet Diana (her moniker is a tribute to both Queen Elizabeth’s nickname, and the late Princess Diana).

The gala event on Wednesday marks only the second time the pair have travelled away together since the birth of Lilibet. The family usually reside in their home based in Montecito, Santa Barbara.

They certainly made the most of their trip across the country—Meghan appeared on a panel this week during the New York Times Dealbook Online Summit where she talked about the importance of paid parental leave in the US.

Prince Harry also attended the WIRED magazine conference where he delivered a stirring statement about online hate.

“Maybe people know this and maybe they don’t, but the term Megxit was or is a misogynistic term, and it was created by a troll, amplified by royal correspondents, and it grew and grew and grew into mainstream media. But it began with a troll,” he told the audience.
