Calling All True Crime Buffs, Netflix Is Rebooting ‘Unsolved Mysteries’

Inviting viewers to help solve the peculiar cases

When it comes to true crime, Netflix has certainly delivered some seriously gripping and binge-worthy series – from Making a Murderer to Don’t F*ck With Cats – we’ve often been on the edge of our seats as soon as a new one drops to the streaming platform. Now, the iconic series Unsolved Mysteries is returning to our screens, offering up a fresh batch of creepy, eerie, and inexplicable cases. 

The original series aired between 1987 and 1997 and was revived in 2008 with a mix of old and new cases. The upcoming Netflix version will feature 12 new episodes, with the first six premiering July 1st. 

The trailer, which uses the show’s original music, touches on mysteries from missing persons to possible UFO abductions and invites the viewer to solve the mystery for themselves, so get ready to put on your detective hat. The description reads: “12 new episodes are rooted in the experiences of ordinary people who have lived the unthinkable — from the trauma of a loved one’s unexplained disappearance or horrific death to the shock of a bizarre paranormal encounter.”

The original creators – Terry Dunn Meurer and John Cosgrove – returned to executive product the reboot and the producers behind Stranger Things have also signed on.
