When Keanu Reeves went public with his girlfriend, artist Alexandra Grant, earlier this week, the internet had a meltdown over seeing our collective boyfriend happy in love for the first time in decades.
While a lot of the chaos was directed towards how great it is to see a famous man date someone relatively close to his own age (Reeves is 55 while Grant is 46), something that really solidified where we’re at with men (hello, Leo), others noted how similar Grant looks to another queen, Helen Mirren:
Now the 74-year-old actress has responded to the confusion, saying that while she’s not dating Reeves (something we would most definitely ship, by the way), she’s very happy for both him and Grant.
“I saw that,” she told ET about the comparisons between her and Grant. “That was very flattering on me, you know, because she’s obviously lovely.”
Mirren added that she knows Reeves through her husband, director Taylor Hackford. “I do know Keanu very well. He did a film with my husband and he is just the most adorable, lovely person,” she said, referring to the 1997 film The Devil’s Advocate. “So she’s a lucky girl and I’m sure that he’s a lucky boy.”
